A Case of Angle¢¥s classification Class ¥° Malocclusion : Anterior Diastemas, Deep Overbite and Severe Overjet

Abstract
There are two groups in Angle¢¥s classification Class I malocclusion. One is identified by denture bases too small to accommodate the teeth in good alignment, whereas the teeth in the:¢¥ other are spaced, having a normal or excessive labial inclination of maxillary or maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth.
Spacing in the second type of Class I malocclusions may be caused by one or all of three factors; (1) it may be caused by diminutive teeth situated on normal denture bases; (2) it may be the result of larger-than-normal denture bases containing teeth of normal mesiodistal width; or(3) spaces between the maxillary or maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth may be caused by an excessive procumbency of these teeth where denture bases are of normal size.
The author had attempted an orthodontic treatment of a Class I malocclusion having spaces between maxillary anterior teeth, being caused by an excessive procumbency of these teeth where the denture base is of normal size. He obtained good results in esthetics and function, but experienced clear root resorption on maxillary anterior teeth.
